In 2018, the personal care and cosmetics industry in Turkey grew by 21% and reached 11.30 billion Turkish Lira.

How was the year 2018 for the personal care and cosmetics industry in Turkey?

According to data received from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the export of cosmetic products increased by 0.8% compared to the previous year and reached 1.59 billion dollars. On the other hand, imports decreased by 9.1% to 907 million dollars.

Diapers and hygiene products were the most exported category at 624.27 million Turkish Lira while makeup products were the most imported products at 285.76 million dollars.

What awaits the industry in 2019?

In the economic program, the growth target for 2019 was to reach 2.3%. The domestic cosmetics market is expected to grow by 15-16% in 2019 and reach 13.0 billion Turkish Lira. A new structuring is expected in the chain stores within the cosmetics market. As a result, a healthier retail chain network can be created after the rapid increase of retail stores in recent years.
Shopping by foreigners/tourists will significantly contribute to the industry in 2019 as in 2018. E-commerce sales will continue to contribute to the growth of the cosmetics industry and the increase of direct sales.
